Watch the music video for Oathbreaker’s “Immortals” today on RollingStone.com.  The song appears on their recently released landmark album Rheia (Sept. 30,Deathwish Inc.) which has been praised by countless publications in North America and abroad.  This record features the most honest, fragile and self-reflective lyrics thatOathbreaker has written thus far in its 8+ year long career.
Vocalist Caro Tanghe commented on the “Immortals” video:
“The song is about emotional betrayal and how that numbed me for a long time.
Being apathetic to any form of social and emotional engagement.
In the video we wanted to push the viewer in a voyeuristic position.
Looking at scenes you’re not allowed to see.
It’s a weird, awkward sexual setting and the lead person is not part of it.
It’s about being numb to your surroundings, apathy in an extreme situation as this.”
Oathbreaker formed in 2008 and released their debut full-length Maelstrom in 2011, which was followed by the critically-acclaimed Eros Anteros full-length in 2013. On Rheia, which was engineered, mixed, and mastered by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Loma Prieta), Oathbreaker have truly hit their stride and carve a new path for their blackened/post-metal sound. Rheia is a deeply personal album that showcases the artistic strength that vulnerability brings.
See Oathbreaker on tour in support of Rheia in North America through October 30th with Skeletonwitch and Iron Reagan, and in Europe from November 6th through December 18th with WIFE.
