(UI) Today we say goodbye to another rock legend. David Bowie passed away last night at 69 after a long battle with cancer. Bowie a rock and roll legend will live on through his music. His flamboyant style and ability to shift a culture of punk musicians was phenomenal. Inspiring artist like the Ramone's and the New York Dolls, Bowie was known as the punk chameleon. Bringing the world hit's like  Ziggy Star dust and space oddity. Bowie was a legend in both the UK and the US with millions of fans around the world. I still have almost every original album. Growing up mom would play his music while cleaning the house, and on the weekends while us kids played in the back yard over a few wine coolers with friends. Bowie also played a roll in politics at one point in his life stating the British people were ready for a fascist leader. Later in his life he would re cant that exact statement saying it was due to all of the drugs he was on at the time. David had admitted then that with all of his traveling and worldly visits he was truly unsure what was right or wrong in politics.

In 1996 Bowie was introduced to the rock and roll hall of fame. With two Grammy awards, three Brit awards, and an honorary Doctorates in music from Berkeley he accomplished a lot in his life. Bowie sold over 140 million albums in his life time as well.  In 2003 he also turned down a knighthood as well. He as an artist turned down a lot of honorary positions stating he did not understand what they were for, and did not spend his whole life working for them.

Sadly yesterday only two days after the release of his latest album black star, David lost his life to liver cancer, His music will live on for generations though, and we will always remember the impact he had on modern music.
