In 2004, Jay-Z collaborated with the rock band Linkin Park and the released “Remix EP Collision Course”. The only hit of the album “Numb/Encore” won a Grammy for best Rap/song collaboration. At the end of 2004, Jay-Z was named President of Def Jam Records, which led to running both companies. In 2005 Jay-z headlined in New York’s Power 105.1 annual concert. The name “I Declare War” had a meaning to it. Jay-Z was going to “Declare War” on artists that called him out at their performances. He put a lot of arguments to rest after his concer.t In 2006 Jay-Z released “Kingdom Come”. The album sold 680,000 copies in the first week, which were his highest 1st week sales ever. In 2007, Jay-Z released “American Gangster”. The album was made from inspiration for the mover “American Gangster” with the single “Blue Magic”. In 2009, Jay-Z announced he would be parting ways with Def Jam after vacating presidency January 1st, 2008. After that, he would join Live Nation and started his Roc Nation imprint which included record label, talent/management agency and music publishing co. Jay-Z also joined up with Stargate to create another record label called Star Nation. In of September 2009 he released his 11th studio album “The Blueprint 3”. The album hit number 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and passed Elvis Presley and is now the solo artist record holder. In 20010, Jay-Z was creating a full length album with Kanye West after stating it was only a five track demo. The album had hit like “H.A.M.”. The album hit number 1 of the ITunes store. On July 4th, 2013 he released “Magna Carta, Holy Grail” which he received 9 Grammy nominations for the annual Grammy Awards of 2014. So yes, it is arguable that Jay-Z is a legend of the Rap game.
